You can reach Astypalea by plane via the State Airport of Astypalea (JTY), which is located 9 km from the town of Astypalea. The airport serves only domestic flights. If you are travelling from abroad you should first head to Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” (ATH) (or to another nearby island that has an international airport such as the island of Kos) and then travel to Astypalea by another flight or ferry.

You can also come to Astypalea by conventional ferry from the port of Piraeus. The distance between the two ports is 147 nautical miles and the average duration of the trip is 10 hours depending on the stops. All ferries to Astypalea have garages for the transport of vehicles as well as cabins for a relaxing journey.

Astypalea is connected by ferry with most of the Dodecanese islands (Kalymnos, Kos, Halki, Symi, Nisyros, Tilos, Rhodes, Kastellorizo) and with some islands of the Cyclades (Paros, Naxos, Syros, Donousa, Amorgos).
